I strongly believe that this story cannot be left untold and these ponies didn’t die for nothing. Australia, we cannot close our eyes on such act.

The letter I sent:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to voice my absolute disgust at the DPI for carrying out the execution (yes, it was an execution!) of 300 innocent ponies. Especially when there were many people who were prepared to rescue them, and some were able to find a good home as this article in the Herald Sun explains
As a working Australian paying my taxes, I demand a full explanation of the matter, including the full vet report.
I am an equine therapists and have been exposed to horses all my life. I studied them and their environment. I hardly doubt that out of these 300 ponies, only a handful could be rehabilitated.
If our government think we, the public, will stay untouched or quite about the situation, then you have underestimated us.
Such act is unspeakable, inhumane and plainly atrocious!
Whoever authorised this must be brought to the eye of the public and be accountable.
If anyone else would carry out the shooting of 300 horses, they would be brought to justice. So the DPI thinks they can do whatever they want??
Why didn’t the DPI give the opportunity for these ponies to be re-homed?
How humane is it to shoot pregnant mares? What sort of people would lead a blind pony in a yard to be shot??
Can you watch this video and find peace? http://youtu.be/Fn2LHkh2r84
Or read the full story here and still agree that they all needed to be shot? http://questequinewelfare.org/issuesprojects/jeparit-ponies-take-action
Why wasn’t there a plan to rehabilitate them as much as possible?
Why were they shot instead of using a more humane form of euthanasia? Is it because bullets are cheaper than injections?
Why was the owner allowed to have so many in the first place when he was already known by the RSPCA for animal cruelty?
How many vets inspected them and did they all agreed on the final decision?
Did any private vets look at them or only the DPI vets who will surely work with the DPI and not against it?
Help was offered by QEW, why wasn’t it taken?
Why were QEW’s offers and suggestions to help out with the ponies completely ignored?
Why weren’t the lives of these ponies taken into consideration???
Did the person who authorised it just signed a form and carried on with his/her day? Or did he/she have the guts to witness the slaughter? Did he/she saw the fear of the remaining ponies after the first lot was shot dead in front of them?
It is so much easier to stay behind a desk as there is no connection with the facts and horror of these deaths. Like children who constantly play video games and cannot feel the pain of hurting another being.
The difference is that you people, are not children.
Who are we to condemn Indonesia of animal cruelty when we do the same on our soil?
We want answers and the assurance that the massacre of Jeparit will not repeat itself!
I also contacted Chanel 7 and ABC via their websites.
I encourage the followers to do the same.
I will keep you posted.
